Another Sunday, another box of books leaving home
Book Purge Nine — August 7th 2016
The usual selection off to the charity shop this week. Books from my IT past, a bit of NLP self-help (including Tony Robbins) and a mix of science, novels, and interests from the past.
More or less at random:
I picked up the Josh Kaufman book at a LikeMinds event just over three years ago. Josh gave a good talk and I interviewed him for a short video after the talk. A perk of the job was a copy of The First 20 Hours, which had recently been published. I don’t think the book really hangs together very well and I won’t be skimming it again in the future.
Rat Pack Confidential I originally bought for my mother. She was a serious Dean Martin fan and it’s something she passed onto me. Both the book and the appreciation of Dean Martin. I probably enjoy the seedier side of the Rat Pack stories more than she did. (I also gave her a copy of the biography by Nick Tosches and she found that shocking; I don’t think the Dean of her imagination really lived the life Tosches portrays. Again, that was a book I really enjoyed.)
Everything else has its little story but with insufficient emotional weight to continue to clog up the shelves.
Go now, with thanks.
See anything you feel I should keep?
