Writing daily on Medium for eight months; the world keeps spinning

I have been posting every day now on Medium for eight months now. Tomorrow marks the first day of the final third of my planned year of daily posts.

If I was to reduce what I have learned in these eight months about writing a daily post to two things, it would be this:

• I no longer fear the combination of blank page and deadline: I trust the process now and know that as long as I start writing, writing will get done
• I can hear myself more clearly in what I write: my style is less mannered, less self-conscious

Those are good things. Or, as Winnie-the-Pooh might say, GOOD THINGS.

And if I gain little else from a year of daily writing, I’m still ahead of where I started.
